Umair was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and is a DACA recipient. His parents brought him to the US around the age of six. As a result, he possesses a unique experience and immigrant perspective, especially as an ethnic and racial minority growing up as a Muslim in Texas. His goal is to learn to be a better community organizer, in the hopes of empowering people and creating a more democratic government. He is currently the President of Metroplex Atheists, assistant director for American Atheists, and separately a member of Secular Democrats of Texas.
