Harrison Kesling grew up in Wilmington, NC, attending a United Methodist Church where he experienced a “Be like Jesus” community that focused on kindness and acceptance, rather than solely on belief. Though he never fully embraced the supernatural aspects of Christianity, he valued being part of a supportive community. His perspective began to change during college, where he encountered more exclusive and politically charged rhetoric from religious groups. This led him to critically examine his beliefs, and by 2020, he no longer identified with Christianity. As a result, Harrison sought out secular, non-supernatural communities and became deeply involved with the Triangle Freethought Society. He currently serves on the board and is passionate about creating spaces for people who value reason, open-mindedness, and inclusivity.
